Kumbh Melais a mass Hindu pilgrimage of faith in which Hindus gather to bathe in a holy river.

Traditionally, four fairs are widely recognized as the Kumbh Melas: Haridwar Kumbh Mela, the Allahabad Kumbh Mela, the Nashik-TrimbakeshwarSimhastha, and Ujjain Simhastha. The main festival site is located on the banks of a river: the Ganges (Ganga) at Haridwar ,the confluence (Sangam) of the Ganges and the Yamuna and the invisible Sarasvati at Allahabad; the Godavari at Nashik; and the Shipra at Ujjain. Taking a Bath in these rivers is thought to cleanse a person of all sins. The Kumbh Mela is held once in 12 years.

The exact age of this festival is uncertain. According to medieval Hindu mythology, The Lord Vishnu dropped drops of Amrita (the drink of immortality) at four places, while transporting it in a kumbha (pot).

The festival is one of the largest peaceful gatherings in the world, and considered as the "world's largest gatherings and congregation of religious pilgrims". There is no precise method of ascertaining the number of pilgrims. An estimated 120 million people visited MahaKumbh Mela in 2013 in Allahabad over a two-month period, including over 30 million pilgrims on a single day, on 10 February 2013.

Kumbh Mela is a project of State Government and Government of India.Government Of India is looking to make it a grand celebration and an incomparable event.So world could better understand the Indian heritage and the Indian culture with modern and scientific approach.

Indian Government has initiated to develop the holy city of Allahabad as smart city. Govt has decided to give the city a complete new look such as, widening of roads, beautification of all circles, providing big entry gates into city from all the sides.Moderating street light to solar based LED lights and under ‘NamamiGange' project creating open defecating free areas, establishing of several sewage treatment plant in avoidance of polluted water should not reach to holy rivers, cleaning of river and its bank in regular basis, solid waste management.

Though a domestic airport already in exists in Allahabad still, Concerned authorities had planned and executing in war foot to develop a moderate & unique civil airport terminal.Before October 2018 as claimed by authorities, so that maximum cities of country will have direct connectivity from here, despite an airport, government authority has also proposed to establish 04 Helipads surrounding the mela premises, so the devotees may directly land on mela ground or may have a jolly rides over mela to, have complete view of it, can also be used to encounter any emergencies. One such helipad is near our Cottage camp site. Govt also developing a rope way over Sangam (Confluence), just in front of our site.

The Authorities are arranging for water buses to run over the river from Allahabad to Haldia and arranging the facility of sea planes for exciting experiences. The government is alsoprovisioning of pairs of special trains and deploying a big fleet of thousands of special buses during entire period of Kumbh Mela.
